A December to Remember awaits revelers at X-mas Bash 2017 which takes place December 9 at the Caribbean Cultural Center in Lauderhill.
Patrons can expect a fusion of vintage music and delectable food, says
Althea Brown Robinson, president of the Excelsior Alumni Association of Florida. It will be the 15th staging of the annual fundraiser.
This year, the theme is ‘Retro 70s and 80s’, a throwback to the disco craze of that era.
“We are delighted that we have received such overwhelming support over the years from fellow alumni and friends of Excelsior who patronize the X-mas Bash,” said Brown Robinson.
Proceeds from X-mas Bash has helped the Alumni Association donate close to J$1 million each year to fund projects at their alma mater, located in east Kingston, Jamaica.
Among the projects the organization supported last year were:
- Economic Scholarships J$300,300
- Penn Relays J$260,000
- Olga Brown Scholarship J$161,200
- Lunch Program J$130,000
- Taekwondo J$ 31,850
- Two Tablets J$ 19,240
Total J$903,500
In addition, the Excelsior Alumni Association of Florida has remained fully engaged in the South Florida community with donations totaling $2,400 to a number of causes including:
