The West Indies Men’s Academy team will host their Sri Lankan counterparts from June 7 to 26, 2025, in a highly anticipated home tour that promises both thrilling competition and critical developmental opportunities.

This five-match series, split between two four-day first-class encounters and three 50-over clashes, will take place at two of Antigua’s premier venues — the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) and the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (SVRS).

A strategic step toward the future

The tour forms part of CWI’s long-term strategy to strengthen the pathway from youth to senior international cricket. With the Academy players fresh off their campaigns in the 2025 West Indies Championship, the timing could not be more opportune.

“These matches serve as a critical component in the development of our emerging players,” said Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket at CWI. “There is a strategic plan in terms of bridging the gap between the junior and senior levels, and the games against Sri Lanka will be used to continue sharpening and equipping our best prospects for the next level.”

Coach Subasinghe: Growth and grit on full display

Head Coach Ramesh Subasinghe echoed Bascombe’s sentiments, emphasizing the dual importance of technical development and personal growth within the Academy program.

“The West Indies Academy remains committed to learning, development, and long-term growth,” Subasinghe said. “Over the past seven months, our players have made steady progress both on and off the field, growing as cricketers and as young men. This series against the Sri Lankan Emerging Players is an important opportunity for us to test our skills against an international team, identify areas we can develop, and continue building for the future of West Indies cricket.”

Fans invited to witness the next generation

Cricket fans across Antigua and the wider Caribbean are being urged to turn out in strong numbers to support the Academy squad. Admission to all matches will be free, offering a rare chance to witness the rise of the region’s next cricketing stars in a live, competitive setting.

This series not only serves as a vital proving ground for players, but also as a celebration of the Caribbean’s enduring cricket culture — showcasing hunger, talent, and the promise of what’s to come.
