Sprinter Kemba Nelson and quarter-miler Anthony Cox have been added to the Jamaican team for the upcoming Olympic Games, as announced by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA). The additions were made official on Monday.
Kemba Nelson, known for her impressive performance as the lead-off runner for the silver medal-winning women’s 4x100m relay team at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, has been added to the Olympic squad. Nelson recently placed fifth in the women’s 100m at the JAAA National Junior and Senior Championships held inside the National Stadium on Friday, June 28.
Anthony Cox, who finished sixth in the men’s 400m at the same championships, will join the Olympic team as a replacement for 800m specialist Kemar Farquharson on the mixed 4x400m relay team. Cox’s addition aims to strengthen Jamaica’s relay prospects in the upcoming games.
