Miramar Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis is proud to announce the highly anticipated return of the Afro-Carib Festival on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Set against the backdrop of Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater, this year’s festival promises an unforgettable evening celebrating Black History Month and Reggae Month.
Headlining the event are three powerhouse performers poised to set the stage on fire.
Leading the charge is Nigerian afrobeats sensation Fireboy DML, who has gained widespread recognition for his infectious sound and captivating performances. He is best known for his chart-topping hit song “Peru,” which features a catchy afro-pop melody and has amassed nearly 200 million views on YouTube, making it a mega-hit in the genre.
Joining him is Grammy award-winning reggae artist Kabaka Pyramid, renowned for his thought-provoking lyrics and genre-bending style that seamlessly blends reggae’s power and melody with the rhythmic flow of hip hop. Kabaka Pyramid won the reggae Grammy award in 2023 for his 2022 album, The Kalling.
Rounding out the lineup is dancehall legend Nadine Sutherland, whose soulful voice has solidified her status as a Jamaican icon. She gained prominence in the music industry at a young age and is best known for her hit single “Action,” which she co-led with dancehall legend Terror Fabulous. “Action” became a widely recognized anthem in the dancehall scene and helped to solidify Sutherland’s status as a premier Jamaican female vocalist of her generation.
A celebration of Black music
“We’re thrilled to bring together such an incredible lineup of talent for this year’s Afro-Carib Festival,” says Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis. “These headliners represent the richness and diversity of Black music and culture, and we can’t wait to share their performances with the community.”
In addition to the headliners, the festival will feature a diverse array of local artists, ensuring a vibrant celebration of the African Diaspora’s musical heritage. From afrobeats to reggae to dancehall, attendees can expect a night filled with electrifying performances that pay homage to the shared roots and traditions of African and Caribbean cultures.
Tickets for the Afro-Carib Festival are available now, offering patrons the opportunity to experience an evening of world-class entertainment and cultural immersion.
