The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has revealed that Latin America and the Caribbean collectively handle 40 per cent of the world’s food trade.
Food insecurity
On the other hand, Anton Edmunds, IDB’s Country Representative to Jamaica says the region is still fairly food insecure.
He noted that 54 per cent of Jamaica’s population experiences moderate food insecurity.
Vulnerability amplified by climate change
Further said that Climate change has placed the Latin America and Caribbean region in a precarious position.
