IDB grants US$44 million to enhance basic education in Haiti
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a $44 million program aimed at bolstering basic education in Haiti.
This strategic move comes as a response to the grim reality that, since the onset of the pandemic, over 2.4 million Haitian children have been deprived of their educational opportunities.
A ray of hope amidst educational disruptions
The pandemic-induced disruption in Haiti’s education system has been far-reaching, with millions of children unable to return to schools.
Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, the IDB said has allocated substantial financial support to facilitate crucial institutional reforms within the country’s education sector.
Nourishing minds and elevating educational standards
Apart from driving institutional reforms, the funding package will also play a pivotal role in nourishing young minds.
The grant will also finance school feeding programs as well as increase the quality of public education services in Haiti.
