Three police officers in St. Vincent are suspended from duty following allegations of their involvement in the physical assault of a 10-year-old boy.
The incident took place at a local police station last Sunday.
Officers suspended with half-pay
Reports are that a corporal and two constables will receive half of their regular pay, during the suspension period, pending the outcome of an investigation.
Alleged bike theft leads to detention
According to reports, the 10-year-old boy was detained by the police on suspicion of stealing a bicycle from someone’s property.
It was reported that a belt was used by the lawmen to beat him, leaving bruises on his back.
Commissioner urges witnesses to step forward
Commissioner of Police, Enville Williams, has called upon witnesses with any information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
