In a recent report issued by analytics firm ForwardKeys, Cancún, Mexico, has secured the top spot in Caribbean air travel, with the Cancún International Airport emerging as the busiest airport in the broader Caribbean region.
Explosive growth
Traveler volume to Cancún’s airport has exceeded pre-pandemic levels, with the destination’s extraordinary trajectory projecting a 32% increase in 2023 compared to 2019. Its continued appeal, despite global concerns, is highlighted by this explosive increase over the last three years. CIA is ranked 39th in the world, only ahead of Palma de Mallorca Airport in Spain and right after Milan Malpensa.
Cancún’s Allure Unveiled
Cancun International Airport (CIA) is the recommended entry point because it connects travellers to the Caribbean’s attractions. It remains a popular choice for tourists seeking the ideal combination of beautiful beaches, cultural diversity, and a wealth of recreational choices.
Tocumen International Airport in Panama was the only other airport in the greater area to make the list.
