Kempinski Hotels and international developer JTRE have officially launched construction on Kempinski Grace Bay, a luxury hotel and residential project set along the famed shores of Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held late Thursday afternoon, drew top government officials and industry leaders to the island’s iconic turquoise waterfront.
Premier Charles Washington Misick and Deputy Governor Anya Williams joined project partners from across the globe for the event, which the Premier described as a milestone in the territory’s tourism evolution. “As global interest in the Turks and Caicos Islands continues to grow, Kempinski Grace Bay brings one of the world’s most distinguished hospitality names to our pristine shores,” Misick said. “This development represents an important step in our evolution as a world-class destination, offering investors and visitors alike a chance to experience our cultural heritage and the beauty of our islands through the lens of luxury and impeccable service.”
The 11-acre project marks Kempinski’s first venture in Turks and Caicos. With more than a century of European hospitality heritage, the group plans to bring what it calls a refined but understated style to Grace Bay’s unspoiled stretch of sand. JTRE, the developer behind major projects in London, Slovakia and Germany, is aiming to blend design precision with a strong respect for the island’s natural setting.
“We look forward to welcoming both guests and residents to Kempinski Grace Bay,” said Barbara Muckermann, Group CEO of Kempinski Hotels. “The property will stand as a flagship within our portfolio—an enduring expression of our heritage, our craftsmanship, and our belief that true luxury is as timeless as the destination’s culture and heritage.”

Plans call for 119 private residences and four oceanfront villas, each positioned for sweeping sea views. Interiors will feature a calm palette of limestone, timber and glass, with an emphasis on open-air living. Amenities include fine-dining venues, a beach club, a European spa, an ocean-view fitness center, tennis and padel courts, a children’s club, and a 3,000-square-foot wine cellar. Sustainability features—such as insulated glass, solar systems and recycled-water irrigation—will be integrated throughout the property.
“This groundbreaking marks the start of a new chapter, not only for Grace Bay but for the entire Turks and Caicos community,” said Marek Baca, JTRE’s Chief Representative for the Americas. “Our vision is to create a sanctuary that blends timeless European elegance with the natural splendor of Grace Bay.”
Kempinski officials, including Chief Product & Experience Officer Rasha Lababidi and Chief Development Officer Christophe Piffaretti, highlighted the project as a defining development for the brand in the Americas. The company says the property’s identity will reflect rarity, authenticity and what it calls “timeless grace.”
Construction is expected to continue through 2026, with completion slated for 2028
