Jamaica has been named one of the top 10 island destinations in the world by Expedia, earning a spot on the travel giant’s first-ever Island Hot List.
The 2025 list, released Tuesday, highlights the most sought-after islands globally, based on a range of data-driven metrics.
The rankings were determined using Expedia travel data, traveler reviews, accommodation quality and affordability, accessibility, air connectivity, seasonality, safety, and overall traveler sentiment.

“Being named among Expedia’s top 10 island destinations is a proud moment for Jamaica,” said Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett. “There is a vibe that can only be found in Jamaica and this recognition reflects the soul of our island – our music, food, people, and unforgettable rhythm of life. Travelers around the world continue to choose Jamaica not just for its beauty, but for the energy and authenticity that sets us apart.”
Jamaica joins the likes of Fiji, Paros (Greece), Sardinia (Italy), and the Dominican Republic on the highly anticipated list. Expedia noted that Jamaica is particularly popular among travelers seeking cultural depth, with travel interest in the island rising 15% year-over-year.
“Jamaica offers a unique sense of culture, deeply rooted in our history and the spirit of our people,” added Director of Tourism, Donovan White. “It’s an honor to be recognized on Expedia’s Island Hot List alongside other incredible islands, showing the world that while we offer sun, sand, and beach, there’s also so much more to our story.”
Expedia officials say the Hot List was created to guide travelers looking for exceptional island escapes in 2025.
“Powered by real traveler data, the Expedia Island Hot List gives travelers the inspiration they need to plan a smarter island escape,” said Melanie Fish, head of public relations for Expedia Group brands. “Island adventurers want standout stays, affordable prices, and seamless flight access. To get that, our top tips are to travel out of season, when average stay prices can fluctuate by as much as 50%, and to bundle flights and hotels together to knock nearly $338 off your trip.”
