The Caribbean island is set to witness a substantial surge in high-quality hotel accommodations, bringing with it the promise of sustained employment opportunities within the tourism industry.

During his budget presentation on Monday, Minister of Finance Dennis Cornwall unveiled exciting news for the Grenadian hospitality landscape.

Six Senses Resort, a 100-room hotel development nestled in the picturesque La Sagesse, is slated for a grand opening in May 2024. This ambitious project not only adds a significant number of high-quality rooms but also spurs economic activity.

The construction phase alone has already generated between 350 and 400 employment opportunities, signaling a boon for the local workforce. Furthermore, the resort’s operational phase will create approximately 194 permanent jobs, offering stable employment prospects for the community.

Silver Sands Beach House Resort: A timely addition

Adding to the anticipation is the impending inauguration of Silver Sands Beach House Resort, a 30-room oasis in Point Salines, scheduled to welcome its first guests on Monday, December 11, 2023.

This opening marks a significant step forward in Grenada’s tourism infrastructure, with the resort expected to create around 72 permanent positions. Notably, the establishment is actively pursuing land expansion plans for 2024, promising further growth and job opportunities.

Upcoming projects to bolster Grenada’s hospitality landscape

Minister Cornwall provided insights into other pivotal developments on the horizon.

The Intercontinental Resort in La Sagesse, St. David, and the Port Louis Expansion in Belmont are both earmarked for acceleration in 2024, heralding an era of increased tourism activity in Grenada.

A transformational endeavor: Old St. George’s University Site

Perhaps one of the most significant announcements made by the finance minister is the impending transformation of the old St. George’s University Site on Grand Anse Beach into a major hotel development.

This visionary project holds the promise of reshaping Grenada’s hospitality landscape, adding to its allure as a tourist destination.

A resounding impact on the economy

Minister Cornwall emphasized that these projects, alongside others in the pipeline, will not only bring an influx of high-quality hotel rooms but will also drive substantial economic activity.
