American Airlines to resume Haiti flights, restoring direct U.S. service to Cap-Haïtien

American Airlines will resume scheduled passenger service to Haiti on Nov. 1, becoming the first U.S. carrier to announce the return of regular commercial flights to the country following a prolonged disruption.

The airline will operate daily nonstop flights between Miami International Airport and Cap-Haïtien using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, reconnecting South Florida with northern Haiti.

Flights will depart Miami at 10:15 a.m. local time and arrive in Cap-Haïtien at 12:15 p.m. The return service will leave Cap-Haïtien at 1:15 p.m. and arrive in Miami at 3:15 p.m.

The route will provide travelers with direct access between the two cities while allowing passengers to connect onward through American Airlines’ extensive domestic and international network from its Miami hub.

The resumption is expected to benefit Haiti’s large diaspora community in South Florida, offering a more convenient travel option for families, business travelers and visitors heading to northern Haiti.

The announcement also highlights Cap-Haïtien’s growing role as a key aviation gateway for Haiti. The northern city has increasingly become an important entry point as the country works to restore international connectivity.

American Airlines’ return to Cap-Haïtien reinforces Miami’s position as a major gateway to the Caribbean, with the carrier maintaining one of the region’s largest international networks.

The renewed service is also expected to support tourism, commerce and family travel while improving access to one of Haiti’s most historic destinations.

For Haiti, the restoration of scheduled U.S. airline service represents a step toward rebuilding international links and strengthening Cap-Haïtien’s role in the country’s travel and economic recovery.
