Caribbean Airlines Limited has taken a significant step in its efforts to address the ongoing negotiations for the collective agreement concerning pilots, spanning the period from September 1, 2015, to August 31, 2018.
On November 22nd, 2023, the company formally engaged with the Trinidad and Tobago Airline Pilots Association (TTALPA) in a bid to find common ground.
Navigating turbulent negotiations
Despite dedicated efforts and extensive deliberations, both parties have encountered substantial challenges in reaching a mutually agreeable resolution.
Caribbean Airlines Limited has opted to invoke the processes outlined in the Industrial Relations Act and have the matter reported to the Minister of Labour.
Industrial court intervenes
The dispute took a legal turn on August 20, 2023, when the Industrial Court issued an injunction against TTALPA.
This injunction effectively halted any potential industrial action by the pilots, a move that has added further complexity to the ongoing negotiations.
Commitment to constructive dialogue
Caribbean Airlines Limited remains resolute in its commitment to fostering a constructive and transparent dialogue with TTALPA.
The company is cautiously optimistic that the intervention of the Minister of Labour will pave the way for a timely and amicable resolution to this prolonged standoff.
