The anticipation at Antigua Cruise Port (ACP) is palpable as the destination edges closer to an unprecedented achievement this season: welcoming its 500,000th cruise passenger.
Currently, the port has greeted approximately 429,000 visitors, a testament to its growing popularity and appeal in the cruise industry.
Record-breaking achievements define the year
The year 2024 is shaping up to be a banner year for Antigua’s cruise sector, marked by extraordinary milestones and record-setting achievements.
Notably, on January 4th, ACP made headlines by accommodating over 10,000 passengers in a single day, setting a new high for the port’s capacity and operational efficiency.
On March 12th, ACP shattered previous records by hosting an impressive 15,808 passengers from five cruise ships docked in St John’s and another vessel in Falmouth Harbour.
This event marked a historic day for Antigua, highlighting the port’s ability to handle a significant influx of tourists and its importance as a key player in the Caribbean cruise market.
Homeporting success and future expectations
The success story of Antigua Cruise Port this season is further bolstered by its achievements in homeporting.
Major cruise lines such as P&O Cruises’ Arvia, Emerald Sakara, Royal Clipper, and SeaDream Yacht Club have chosen ACP as their preferred home port.
With projections indicating the welcome of over 800,000 cruise passengers by the year’s end, Antigua Cruise Port is poised to continue its trajectory of growth and success, further solidifying its position as a premier cruise destination in the Caribbean.
