The eagerly anticipated CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final match between Jamaica and Canada has been rescheduled to take place on Saturday at the National Stadium, with a kickoff time of 10:30 a.m. This match marks the first leg of a two-match series, with the second game scheduled for Tuesday at the BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.
Heavy rainfall late in the afternoon and evening on Friday resulted in the accumulation of water in various areas of the National Stadium field. Consequently, officials were compelled to postpone the originally scheduled 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals beckon
In an official statement released on Friday night, CONCACAF cited adverse weather conditions as the reason for the postponement. The statement also noted that CONCACAF officials had maintained continuous communication with the match referees and representatives from both teams before arriving at the decision to reschedule the fixture.
The winner of this quarter-final match will advance to the CONCACAF Nations League semi-finals in March, securing a coveted ticket to the Copa America. The triumphant team will participate as a guest entry in the South American championship, adding an extra layer of significance to this highly anticipated encounter between Jamaica and Canada.
