Growing up, Alfred faced adversity early on with the loss of her father, Julian, at the tender age of 12. Despite this heartbreaking loss, she discovered her passion for athletics under the guidance of her PE teacher, Simeon Stephen, who recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.

“In the midst of darkness, Mr. Stephen saw a spark in me that ignited my journey in athletics,” Alfred recalls fondly.

At 14, Alfred made the bold decision to move away from home to Jamaica, where she continued her athletic journey under the mentorship of coach Marlon Jones. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she blossomed into a standout sprinter, catching the attention of renowned coach Edrick Floreal.

“Julien’s dedication and work ethic set her apart from her peers. She has a natural talent that, when combined with her relentless determination, makes her a force to be reckoned with,” Coach Jones remarks.

Alfred’s talent flourished

Under Floreal’s guidance at the University of Texas, Alfred’s talent flourished. She quickly rose to prominence, capturing multiple NCAA titles and earning accolades such as the prestigious Bowerman Award.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Coach Floreal and the support of my teammates. They have been instrumental in my development as an athlete,” Alfred acknowledges.

With her remarkable speed and determination, Alfred became a force to be reckoned with on the track, setting records and dominating her competition.

“Julien’s performances on the track speak for themselves. She is a true champion and an inspiration to athletes around the world,” says Floreal.

I believe anything is possible

“Every setback has only fueled my determination to succeed. I am grateful for the challenges I’ve faced, as they have made me stronger and more resilient,” Alfred reflects.

Now, as she embarks on her professional career, Alfred has her sights set on making history for Saint Lucia on the global stage.

“With hard work, dedication, and the support of my team, I believe anything is possible. I am determined to bring home a medal for Saint Lucia and make my country proud,” Alfred asserts confidently.

Supported by her coach, teammates, and a legion of supporters back home, she is focused on realizing her dreams and cementing her legacy as one of Saint Lucia’s greatest athletes.

“As Julien’s coach, I have no doubt that she will achieve greatness. Her talent, determination, and unwavering commitment to excellence set her apart. Saint Lucia has a true champion in Julien Alfred,” Coach Floreal declares proudly.

As she prepares to represent her nation with pride and determination, Julien Alfred stands as a shining example of perseverance, resilience, and the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity and achieve greatness.
