Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s influential performance helped Manchester City climb to the top of the Women’s Super League (WSL) with a 2-0 victory over West Ham in London.
Shaw, despite being rested ahead of City’s crucial UEFA Women’s Champions League group-stage clash with Barcelona, made an immediate impact after coming on as a substitute in the 70th minute.
One minute after her introduction, the Jamaican international provided a pinpoint assist to Mary Fowler, who met Shaw’s cross at the back post to head home City’s second goal and secure the win. The opener came much earlier, with Lauren Hemp capitalizing on a well-weighted pass from Fowler in the 10th minute, expertly creating space and firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Shaw, nominated for the prestigious 2023 Ballon d’Or, continues to be a pivotal force for Manchester City. Her latest contribution adds to her impressive resume, as she edges closer to cementing her legacy in the WSL.
