Sara Misir makes history with spectacular third-place finish in Jeddah

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – In a monumental moment for Team Blue Rising, Jamaican speedster Sara Misir delivered a sensational performance in Jeddah, securing the team’s first-ever podium finish in the E1 Series.

The exhilarating race saw Misir and her co-pilot, American speed record-holder John Peeters, power their way to a third-place finish, racking up 24 points on the leaderboard.

Their impressive effort placed them behind Aoki Racing, who dominated with 39 points, and Team Rafa, who finished second with 30 points. For Team Blue Rising, it was a watershed moment, solidifying their presence among the elite competitors in the cutting-edge world of electric-powered marine racing.

A rollercoaster race of strategy and skill

The race burst into action with high-intensity drama as Peeters’ flawless qualifying lap secured pole position for Team Blue Rising. When Misir took the helm, she expertly navigated the opening lap, maintaining second place despite Aoki Racing deploying their boost to seize the lead.

In a strategic gamble, Misir took the long lap early in the race to find cleaner waters, setting herself up for a calculated push mid-race. However, a costly delay in taking the short lap on lap 4 saw her drop to fifth place, momentarily jeopardizing the team’s podium hopes.

But Misir refused to back down. With unwavering focus and sheer determination, she clawed her way back, overtaking her rivals with precision to claim fourth place before launching a final-lap surge to secure a dramatic third-place finish.

A rookie’s dream moment

For Misir, the result was nothing short of a dream debut. Reflecting on the landmark achievement, she expressed immense pride in what Team Blue Rising had accomplished.

“This is a moment of pride and joy for Team Blue Rising,” Misir beamed after the race. “To make history in my rookie event is incredible, but it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the entire team. We stayed focused, adapted to the challenges, and executed a solid strategy to reach the podium.”

Her co-pilot and mentor, John Peeters, was equally thrilled with the team’s success, praising Misir’s mental toughness and skill.

“We followed Sara through pre-training all week, and she dug in when she needed to,” Peeters remarked. “This is a proud day for all of us at Team Blue Rising.”

Eyes set on Doha

While the podium finish in Jeddah marks a historic milestone, Misir insists that this is only the beginning for Team Blue Rising.

“This is just the beginning for us,” she declared with steely determination. “We’re eager to build on this success as we head to the next round in Doha, Qatar, on February 22.”

With a breakthrough performance in the books and momentum on their side, Team Blue Rising is poised to push for even greater glory in the fast-paced world of E1 Series racing.
