Hunter, who formerly served as Head of Brand Partnerships at the International Cricket Council (ICC), will officially assume his role in October, based at the CWI headquarters at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Antigua.

With over two decades of experience in the sports industry, Hunter brings a wealth of expertise to CWI. His career has included prominent roles at globally renowned sports and entertainment agencies, such as Bates Worldwide Advertising, World Sport Group, Havas Sports, IMG Media, and Six Nations Rugby. During his tenure at the ICC, Hunter was instrumental in managing global sponsorships and partnerships, driving substantial commercial success in international cricket.

Enthusiasm for Hunter’s appointment

Mrs. Debra Coryat-Patton, Independent Director and Chair of the Human Capital & Recruitment Committee, expressed her enthusiasm for Hunter’s appointment: “We’re excited to welcome Rupert Hunter as our new Chief Commercial Officer. After a thorough selection process, Rupert emerged as the top choice for this critical role. His global outlook is vital for building strong international partnerships, and he’ll be tasked with driving revenue growth and expanding our fan base in the Caribbean and beyond. With his extensive experience, we’re confident Rupert will hit the ground running and make a significant impact.”

Hunter, on his new role, shared his excitement: “The opportunity to join Cricket West Indies, after hosting an outstanding T20 World Cup tournament, and to re-immerse myself in the world of international cricket is very exciting. West Indies cricket has a rich heritage and broad global appeal, and I look forward to realizing the full commercial potential of the brand, the teams, and the organization in the months ahead.”

Hunter will oversee CWI’s Commercial, Marketing, and Communications Department, joining forces with Nyssa Pierre, who was recently appointed as the Communication and Media Manager. His appointment is part of a broader structural change within the organization, aimed at enhancing CWI’s efficiency and furthering its commercial ambitions.

This latest addition to CWI’s executive team highlights the organization’s commitment to building strong leadership to secure its future growth and success, both regionally and internationally.
