Arkansas’ Nickisha Pryce delivered a stellar performance at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field on Saturday to shatter Lorraine Fenton’s 22-year-old Jamaican 400m record.

Pryce clocked an impressive 48.89 seconds to win gold, erasing Fenton’s previous mark of 49.30 set back in 2002.

Pryce’s remarkable time not only set a new Jamaican record but also established a new collegiate record, surpassing the 49.13 seconds achieved by Britton Wilson in 2023. This victory cements Pryce's status as a formidable force in the 400m event.

Arkansas dominated the event, securing the top four spots in the final. Kaylyn Brown took silver with a time of 49.13 seconds, Amber Anning claimed bronze with 49.59 seconds, and Rosey Effiong finished fourth in 49.72 seconds. This clean sweep underscores Arkansas’ strength in the 400m discipline.

In the women’s 100m, LSU’s Brianna Lyston showcased her speed, clocking 10.89 seconds with a 2.2 m/s tailwind to take silver. She finished just behind Ole Miss senior McKenzie Long, who won gold with a time of 10.82 seconds. Texas Tech senior Rosemary Chukwuma secured the bronze, crossing the line in 10.90 seconds.
