Jamaica’s Khadija “Bunny” Shaw has etched her name in Manchester City’s history books, becoming the women’s team’s all-time leading goal scorer.
Shaw achieved this milestone by surpassing Georgia Stanway’s previous record of 67 goals during City’s 3-1 derby victory over Manchester United at the Etihad on Saturday.
Shaw’s historic goal came in the early stages of the second half, as she calmly finished off a chance created by Jess Park, who had already scored City’s first two goals. With this achievement, Shaw propelled Manchester City to the top of the Women’s Super League standings.
In just her third full season with Manchester City, Shaw reached her record-breaking tally of goals in a remarkable 81 matches, according to the club’s official website. This contrasts with Stanway’s achievement of 67 goals in 186 appearances spanning from 2015 to 2022.
Shaw’s accomplishment marks a significant moment in Manchester City Women’s history, highlighting her exceptional talent and contribution to the team’s success.
