Guyana Harpy Eagles secured a significant victory in the Regional Super50 Cup by defeating Barbados Pride, who suffered their first loss in the competition.
In a low-scoring match at the Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, Harpy Eagles posted 202 runs in their innings, with Sherfane Rutherford being the top scorer with 74 runs off 70 deliveries.
In response, Barbados Pride’s run chase started strongly with an 81-run opening partnership between Kyle Mayers and Kraigg Brathwaite. However, Gudakesh Motie’s exceptional bowling performance, where he claimed five wickets for 17 runs, triggered a collapse in the Pride’s innings.
Mayers played a fine innings of 64 runs, but it was in a losing cause as Pride lost wickets at regular intervals. Kevin Sinclair provided valuable support to Motie with three wickets for 30 runs.
Eagles soar to 202 runs
Harpy Eagles had a challenging start to their innings, losing early wickets to the bowling of Raymon Reifer. Kemol Savory contributed 35 runs and Rutherford’s aggressive knock, which included four fours and four sixes, propelled their total to 202. However, their innings ended on a slightly shaky note, losing their last four wickets for 18 runs.
Despite a solid start by Barbados Pride, Harpy Eagles managed to fight back and secure a convincing 56-run victory. The win marked Harpy Eagles’ third victory in four matches, while Pride has won two of their four encounters.
