Florida among states to host Cricket World Cup 2024

The global cricketing community is abuzz as the U.S. gets set to co-host the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup alongside the West Indies. This international sporting event, already an enormous draw worldwide, promises to introduce cricket’s charm and charisma to an even wider American audience.

Destination: Three key venues

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has selected three iconic locations to showcase this sporting extravaganza: Dallas, Florida, and New York.

These cities emerged as the favored destinations after the ICC meticulously examined a plethora of potential venues.

Expanding stadium capacities

In a bid to accommodate the heightened interest, existing stadiums will undergo enhancements.

Dallas’ Grand Prairie and Florida’s Broward County are set to see modular extensions. Broward County is no stranger to international cricket; it made its debut by hosting a Twenty20 series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in 2010.

This very stadium witnessed KL Rahul’s scintillating century in just 46 balls back in 2016.

The Big Apple, New York, is not left behind. Plans are in motion to construct a magnificent 34,000-seat modular stadium in Eisenhower Park, Nassau County, subject to the requisite permit approvals.

The modular stadium revolution

A nod to sustainable and flexible architecture, modular stadiums come with the promise of world-class facilities at a fraction of traditional costs.

Their semi-permanent nature ensures safety and aesthetics while providing the flexibility to expand or even relocate, ensuring the growth trajectory of cricket in the U.S. remains unhindered.

ICC’s vision: Uniting diverse communities

ICC’s Chief Executive, Geoff Allardice, expressed immense pleasure at the opportunity to bring cricket to the heart of the U.S., a vital market for the sport.

Recognizing the immense potential, he emphasized how this venture reinforces the expansive and unifying nature of cricket’s fanbase.

The utilization of modular stadium technology in the U.S., a testament to innovation, ensures cricket enthusiasts in the country get to witness sporting brilliance right at their doorstep.

With the stage set and the venues chosen, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup promises not just a celebration of cricket but a union of diverse communities under the banner of sportsmanship.
