CONCACAF W Gold Cup Qualification at stake as Jamaica visits Guatemala

The conclusion of Group B in League A of the 2024 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup qualification will decide the two teams advancing to the tournament when Guatemala hosts Jamaica in their final Road To W Gold Cup match at the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores in Guatemala City, Guatemala, on Sunday at 7:00 pm (Jamaica time).

Currently, Guatemala occupies second place in the group with four points from three matches, while Jamaica is in third place with two points from two matches. Both teams trail the group leaders, Panama, who has completed its campaign with seven points.

Guatemala still has a chance to secure first place in the group, which would grant them a spot in the 2024 W Gold Cup group stage. To achieve this, Las Chapines would need to defeat the Reggae Girlz by a margin of five goals or more.

Jamaica in must-win scenario

A Guatemala victory by four goals or fewer, or a draw, would result in a second-place finish for Guatemala, earning them a place in the W Gold Cup Prelims, while Panama would claim the group stage spot.

Should Jamaica emerge with three points from Guatemala City, they would earn their place in the W Gold Cup Prelims.

In their previous encounter during this qualification campaign, both teams held leads before settling for a 2-2 draw in Kingston in the October window.

Attacking talents

Guatemala will rely on their attacking talents in hopes of a memorable night. Ana Martinez has scored two goals in the campaign, while Leslie Ramirez and Aisha Solorzano have also contributed with goals.

Jamaica has seen goals from Shaneil Buckley and Melissa Johnson in this Road To W Gold Cup, with Mikayla Dayes being a playmaker and providing two assists.
