MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — A clean sheet, an electrifying brace from Captain Khadija “Bunny” Shaw, and Siobhan Wilson’s audacious first international goal underscored a commanding 3-0 victory for the Reggae Girlz against South Africa at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Friday night.

The performance earned glowing reviews from head coach Hubert Busby and captain Shaw, who lauded their collective effort and resilience.

“We haven’t done a good enough job at keeping clean sheets in the past, and that was a key part of our success tonight,” Busby remarked. “Preventing the opposition from scoring was critical. This was a complete team performance, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Shaw, who added to her glittering international tally with two second-half goals, reflected on her return to form and the significance of playing on home soil.

Wilson’s magical moment sets the tone

Shaw wasn’t finished. In the 82nd minute, she capitalized on a defensive lapse to hammer home her second goal of the night, taking her international tally to an impressive 57 goals.

Busby also praised the defensive effort, crediting young debutant Lia Brooks, who impressed with her composure and maturity.

South Africa’s head coach, Desiree Ellis, acknowledged the challenges her team faced but found positives in the experience.
