The 42-year-old batsman played a crucial role for the club in the team’s second-place finish in the Specsavers County Championship in the last season.

76th first-class century

During that season, Chanderpaul hit 819 runs at an average of more than 50, and notched his 76th first-class century as he reached three centuries against Surrey, Yorkshire and Warwickshire.  Chanderpaul, who signed as a Kolpak player, expressed delight at continuing a storied career.

Excited to return

“I’m very excited to return to Lancashire for the 2018 season having thoroughly enjoyed last year’s campaign,” said Chanderpaul, who played 164 Tests for the West Indies, amassing a total of 11,867 runs.

He said, “The club is extremely ambitious and there is a group of hugely talented young cricketers in the squad.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing my part both on the field scoring as many runs as possible, but also as a mentor to some of our younger players. I am eagerly anticipating the upcoming season.”
