West Indies Women 'A' faced batting concerns in their first One-day match against Pakistan Women 'A,' resulting in a tense eight-run victory for the Pakistan side. The match took place at the Ghani Glass Ground, and Pakistan now leads the three-match series 1-0.

The West Indies Women 'A' team was bowled out for 166 runs in 45.2 overs while chasing Pakistan's total of 174 runs, achieved in 49.3 overs. Despite several West Indies batters making promising starts, none managed to build substantial partnerships. Shabika Gajnabi top-scored with 29 runs, followed by Rashada Williams with 27, Shunelle Sawh with 22, and Sheneta Grimmond with 20 runs. Unfortunately, wickets fell consistently, preventing significant partnerships from developing.

The West Indies Women 'A' team appeared to be on track for a strong finish when they reached 100 for two in the 24th over. However, they lost five wickets for just 24 runs within the span of 67 balls. The lower-order batsmen were unable to carry the team to victory.

Gul Feroza anchors the hosts

Pakistan's bowlers, including Saima Malik, Anosha Nasir, and captain Rameen Shamin, each claimed two wickets, playing a pivotal role in undermining the West Indies batting line-up. Gul Feroza, batting at number three, anchored the hosts with a resolute 62 runs from 101 balls, contributing significantly to Pakistan's respectable total.

Cherry-Ann Fraser was the most successful bowler for the West Indies Women 'A' team, taking three wickets for 38 runs from 6.3 overs. Off-spinner Zaida James provided support with two wickets for 29 runs from her 10 overs. It's worth noting that the West Indies Women 'A' team had chosen to field first.
