West Indies Women focused on overcoming batting challenges in Pakistan Series

In the build-up to the three-match series against Pakistan Women, West Indies Women's batting and One-Day International (ODI) form have taken center stage, with the Caribbean side aiming to address their recent shortcomings in the shorter format.

Having not secured a victory against top-tier opposition in ODIs since their successful series against Pakistan three years ago, West Indies Women are keen to capitalize on the upcoming series, especially given its significance in the ICC Championship standings.

Speaking at a media conference ahead of the series, West Indies Women's captain Hayley Matthews emphasized the importance of performing well to secure crucial points in the championship standings. She acknowledged the challenges posed by Pakistan but expressed confidence in her team's ability to overcome them.

Failing to post competitive totals against strong opposition

In recent ODI encounters, West Indies Women have struggled with their batting performance, failing to post competitive totals against strong opposition. Matthews acknowledged this deficiency but highlighted ongoing efforts to address it through rigorous training and regional competitions.

Despite facing higher-ranked teams in the championship, Matthews remains optimistic about her team's chances and hopes for improved performances to secure valuable points in the standings.

The series against Pakistan comprises three ODIs followed by five Twenty20 Internationals, providing ample opportunities for West Indies Women to showcase their skills and strive for success on the international stage.
