Webb asks for another sentencing delay

Former CONCACAF President and FIFA Vice President Jeffrey Webb is asking for an eighth delay in his sentencing since pleading guilty to fraud and racketeering charges while working as a football executive.

According to reports, Federal prosecutors have not objected to the filing of documents requesting the delay, meaning all that is needed now is the consent of the court in the Eastern District of New York.

Webb was to be sentenced on September 7 but his attorney has asked for a six-month stay, which would mean Webb’s case would not come up again until March of 2019.The former CONCACAF President and president of the Cayman Islands Football Association was arrested in 2015 and pleaded guilty in November of that year to seven counts of conspiring to rig sports marketing contracts associated with World Cups and other big football events in exchange for millions of US dollars.
