The Windward Islands Volcanoes and the Barbados Pride encountered stiff resistance in their quests for crucial victories against the Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) Marooners and the Jamaica Scorpions respectively, in the ongoing West Indies Championship matches on Friday in Jamaica.

At Chedwin Park, the Marooners displayed resilience as they posted 271 for six in their second innings, securing an 80-run lead against the Volcanoes. Former Pride batsman Jonathan Carter led the charge with 94 runs, supported by Romario Greaves (62*) and Damel Evelyn (56). Despite a valiant effort from the Volcanoes, who were dismissed for 395 in their first innings, the Marooners held firm, setting the stage for an intriguing final day.

Meanwhile, at Sabina Park, the Scorpions fought back admirably against the Pride, reaching 220 for eight in their second innings, establishing a lead of 100 runs. Abhijai Mansingh led the resistance with a determined half-century, supported by contributions from Leroy Lugg (43) and Kirk McKenzie (39). However, newcomer Shaquille Cumberbatch's impressive spell of bowling (4-22) kept the Pride's hopes alive, setting up an intriguing finale.
