The University of Albany reaffirmed its supremacy at the 2024 America East Indoor Championships in Boston, clinching both the men's and women's titles with outstanding performances across the board.

Under the leadership of Jamaican star sprinters Shakur Williams and Dominique Clarke, UA's men's team amassed 165 points, securing their 15th title in 19 years, while the women's team, guided by Clarke, showcased remarkable dominance with 191 points, clinching their 15th overall championship and third in the past four years.

The foundation of Albany's success was laid by their short sprinters, who secured their seventh consecutive 60m titles at the conference level, along with a remarkable third sweep of the event indoors.

Victory in both the 60m and 200m dashes


In the men's events, Williams led the charge by clinching victory in both the 60m and 200m dashes, contributing significantly to UA's success. Williams' exceptional form was complemented by stellar performances from his teammates, including Antwone Messado in the 60m hurdles and Ja’Lil Reynolds in the high jump.

Former Kingston College jumper Louis Gordon spearheaded Albany's dominance in the long jump, leading a clean sweep of the event. Travis Robinson showcased his class in the shot put, securing victory with a personal best, school record, and championship record throw.

On the women's side, Clarke continued to shine, leading a remarkable 1-2-3-4 sweep of the women’s 60m dash and contributing significantly to UA's success. The women's team displayed exceptional depth and talent across various events, with standout performances from Antoinette Galloway in the 60m hurdles and Amelia Benjamin in the high jump.

Albany's women's team also demonstrated their prowess in the field events, claiming podium finishes in the long jump, triple jump, and weight throw.
