Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard nabs boat carrying Venezuelan migrants

Officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard intercepted a vessel carrying 27 individuals, including three children, all believed to be Venezuelan migrants. 

The incident occurred south of the country’s coast on Wednesday morning.

Details of the incident

Reports are that at approximately 9:43 a.m., Coast Guard personnel spotted the boat breaching the maritime border and began a chase.

Among them are three children, 16 men and eight women, all believed to be Venezuelan migrants.

Reports are that the boat was taken to Staubles Bay, Chaguaramas, and the Immigration Division and the police were contacted.
