Teammates complement Charlie’s stellar performance
In addition to Charlie's outstanding effort, senior classmates Aiden Miller and Tyler Bruneau tied for second place, while Luke Wise finished fourth. Travis Robertson, another Benjamin senior, shot a two-over par before withdrawing from the tournament.
Wood's recent triumph follows his outstanding performance in the Notah Begay III Junior Golf National Championship Last Chance Florida Regional, which was held on the previous weekend at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills. Benjamin School will compete for the high school state championship tournament at the same location this fall.
Notably, during the regional qualifier, with his father Tiger Woods serving as his caddy, Charlie achieved final scores of 71 and 66. His outstanding second round featured nine birdies, tying his career-best score, and secured his victory in the boys’ 14-15 age division.
Tiger Woods May Not Caddy for Son Charlie at Varsity State Champs
This victory grants him the opportunity to advance to the national championship in Coushatta, Louisiana, scheduled to commence on November 4 and conclude on November 6.
It's important to keep in mind that Charlie's father, Tiger, might not be able to caddy for him due to high school rules and regulations as he sets out on his varsity state championship adventure this November. However, the Buccaneers may rely on their incredibly gifted "rookie" to strengthen their starting lineup.
The Florida High School Athletic Association's state golf championships will start on November 6 and conclude on November 15 with the announcement of the winning teams and individuals.
