Spirit Airlines resumes service to Cap-Haïtien, Haiti

US-based low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines is set to resume flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Cap-Haïtien, Haiti, beginning May 10, 2024.

This decision follows a comprehensive assessment and consultations with safety, security, and airport partners.

In its announcement, Spirit Airlines confirmed that travelers can now book flights on its website. The airline temporarily suspended services to and from Haiti last month.

Port-au-Prince flights remain suspended

While flights to Cap-Haïtien will restart, Spirit Airlines has opted to maintain the suspension of flights between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince.

The airline continues to evaluate security concerns and closely monitor the situation in Haiti’s capital.

An alternative travel option

Prior to Spirit Airlines’ decision to resume flights to Cap-Haïtien, the only airline providing direct service was the Haitian company Sunrise Airways.

With Spirit Airlines back in operation, travelers now have an alternative option for flying between Haiti’s northern city and the United States.

This move is expected to benefit both Haitian nationals and foreign travelers, providing increased travel flexibility and connectivity.
