West Indies fast-bowling sensation, Shamar Joseph, has made an astounding leap of 42 spots in the ICC Men's Test rankings, propelling him to the joint 50th position in the list.

Joseph's extraordinary performances during the recent two-Test series against Australia earned him the coveted Player of the Series award. He played a pivotal role in West Indies' historic second Test victory over the world champions, leaving a lasting impression.

In the first Test encounter, Joseph showcased his talent by taking five wickets for 94 runs, even though Australia claimed a 10-wicket win. However, it was in the second Test that he truly shone, delivering a match-winning performance with seven wickets for 68 runs, contributing significantly to West Indies' memorable eight-run triumph.

At just 24 years old, Joseph's remarkable rise in the ICC Test rankings reflects his potential and impact on the cricketing world. Additionally, his pace partners also received well-deserved ranking upgrades, with Kemar Roach climbing two places to reach 17th, and Alzarri Joseph advancing four places to secure the 33rd spot.

ICC rankings for Test batsmen

In the ICC rankings for Test batsmen, New Zealand's Kane Williamson maintains his top position, followed closely by England's Joe Root and Australian stalwart Steve Smith. Meanwhile, the bowling rankings are led by India's Ravi Ashwin, with South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Australian captain Pat Cummins closely trailing.

Notably, all-rounders Jason Holder, who holds the seventh spot, and Kyle Mayers, ranked 10th, are the highest-rated West Indies players on the all-rounders' list. However, they did not participate in the recent series against Australia. India's Ravi Jadeja currently tops the all-rounders' rankings.

Joseph's rapid ascent in the ICC Test rankings is a testament to his exceptional talent and the promising future he holds in international cricket.
