Former national champion Rohan Watson claimed his first 100m victory of the season at the Grand Prix Lombardia Brescia 2024, a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze event, clocking 10.48 seconds in challenging conditions on Sunday.

Watson edge out compatriot Michael Campbell, who finished second in 10.53 seconds. Cuba’s Janns Fernandez claimed third place with 10.54 seconds.

The victory marks Watson’s first 100m win since his heat at the Miramar Invitational in early April, boosting his confidence as the season draws to a close.

In other events, Jamaica’s Natasha Morrison finished third in the women’s 100m with a time of 11.43 seconds, racing into a headwind of -2.4m/s. Ivory Coast’s Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith took the win in 11.28 seconds, while Great Britain’s Daryll Neita claimed second with 11.31 seconds.

McPherson finished fourth

Olympic finalist Stephenie-Ann McPherson finished fourth in the women’s 400m, clocking 51.93 seconds. American Alexis Holmes won the race in 51.32 seconds, followed by Brittany Brown (51.48) and Romania’s Andrea Miklos (51.65).

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Yanique Thompson placed fourth with a time of 13.44 seconds (-1.6m/s). Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho Quinn dominated the race with a winning time of 12.88 seconds, followed by American Masai Russell (12.91) and Italy’s Giada Carmassi (13.42).

Jamaican high jumper Lamara Distin finished fifth in the women’s high jump, clearing 1.82 meters, while Janieve Russell placed sixth in the women’s 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 56.13 seconds.
