Ricketts confounded by Reggae Girlz’ ongoing stand-off with JFF

Michael Ricketts, president of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), expressed bewilderment at the ongoing stand-off between the federation and the first-choice players of the Reggae Girlz, suggesting that it is the players themselves who are prolonging the impasse.
Following their historic second-round finish at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand last summer, the entire Reggae Girlz squad made themselves unavailable for selection just two matches into their return. Consequently, an emergency squad was assembled to compete in the Gold Cup play-offs, where they failed to secure qualification for the inaugural tournament this year.
The primary contention between the Girlz and the federation revolves around outstanding payments owed to the players. However, the JFF has maintained that they have fulfilled their financial obligations to the team, asserting that they are ready to address any additional concerns if the players are willing to engage in discussions.
JFF's desire to rebuild a positive relationship
"As long as they say yes (to meeting), we are available and will embrace them. Whatever the issues are, we need to sit amicably and settle these issues so we can move the nation's business forward, which is football," remarked Ricketts.
With a two-match international friendly series against Chile scheduled at the end of February, Ricketts admitted his lack of insight into the ongoing stand-off. However, he reiterated the JFF's desire to rebuild a positive relationship with the Reggae Girlz, emphasizing that the federation is not in conflict with the players.
