Reward for Tip Leading to Arrest in Death of 7-year-old Could Rise to $47,500

MIAMI-DADE – The reward for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of Saturday’s shooting in Brownsville that killed 7-year-old Alana Washington could rise to as high as $47,500 after Mayor Carlos Gimenez and several County Commissioners followed Chairwoman Audrey Edmonson’s lead by pledging to contribute toward the reward, which currently stands at $15,000 – including $5,000 each from Crime Stoppers, Miami-Dade Police and Chairwoman Edmonson.

“I thank the mayor and my colleagues for joining me in pledging more money to boost the reward for identifying the killers of this innocent little girl,” Chairwoman Edmonson said.

“I ask anyone with information about this horrible crime to contact Crime Stoppers so these cowards can be taken off our streets and brought to justice.”

The shooting, which also wounded 2-year-old Alto Jacobs III, along with a man and a woman, took place at about 8 p.m. on July 25 at Northwest 51st Street and Northwest 29th Avenue.
