The Puerto Rican police have taken assertive actions against crime, resulting in the arrest of at least 380 individuals on Tuesday.

This operation marks one of the most substantial actions taken against criminal activities in recent years.

The FBI and other federal agencies were involved in the operation.

Targeting organized gangs

According to media reports, Police Commissioner Antonio López said that  12 gangs suspected of engaging in drug and weapon sales were targeted.

López shared that this decision was prompted by tips from residents who complained about the violence in their communities.

Seizure of illicit assets

During the operation, the police successfully seized 78 firearms, along with over 50 vehicles and almost $100,000 in cash.

Diversity of the arrested individuals

The wide-reaching operation led to the apprehension of a diverse group of suspects, including couples and families.

Women actively involved in managing criminal organizations, with connections to numerous killings, were also among those arrested.
