Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department Receives Top Award from the Association of Municipal Water Agencies

Palm Beach County's Water Utilities Department (PBCWUD) recently received the prestigious Sustainable Water Utility Management award from the Association of Municipal Water Agencies (AMWA) at its Executive Management Conference in Miami. This top honor was awarded for PBCWUD’s significant achievements, including earning the internationally recognized ISO 55001 certification in asset management.

Additionally, the county was recognized for its innovative Green Cay Phase II water reuse project, which will feature a public education center set to open in mid-2026. This recognition highlights the county’s commitment to sustainable water management practices

AMWA has been the leading national advocacy body for the largest publicly-owned drinking water systems on legislative, regulatory, sustainability, and utility management issues for 40 years. The organization’s awards program is peer-reviewed, offering three distinct levels to earn: Gold, Platinum, and the top award, Sustainable Utility. PBCWUD has continued to strive for even greater national recognition, first earning AMWA’s Gold distinction in 2001, followed by the Platinum in both 2006 and 2012, representing a more than twenty-year legacy of continuous improvement by the utility.

Baker, Palm Beach County Administrator. “The consistent leadership, vision, and commitment of our utility in providing the highest quality of services to residents while safeguarding our precious drinking water supply is an achievement for which we can all be proud.” PBCWUD provides drinking water, reclaimed water and wastewater collection services to 635,000 residents across a 1,300-square-mile service area of Palm Beach County.
