Over 50 apprehended in illegal boat landing in TCI
Over 50 individuals were apprehended at South Salt Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands following an illegal boat landing on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Immigration and Border Services, the boat carrying migrants was spotted around 3 am. It was reported that resources were mobilized to apprehend those involved and gather information for ongoing investigations.
Reports are that approximately 59 individuals had been detained.
One female migrant was found deceased.

In light of the incident, residents were also advised to exercise caution regarding unfamiliar individuals or activities.
The Ministry stressed the importance of promptly reporting any suspicious persons, activities, or information to local authorities through the 911 emergency hotline.
