One dead, several injured in Miami-Dade explosion; investigation underway

The incident occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. on June 15 near SW 87 Avenue and SW 61 Street, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO). Deputies responded to reports of an explosion and arrived to find heavy smoke in the area.
Officials said emergency crews from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) immediately began evacuating people nearby while working to secure the scene. One adult male was pronounced dead on site.
Three other adult males were transported to hospital. Among them is an MDSO lieutenant who remains in stable condition. Another victim is reported to be in critical but stable condition, while the third is also listed in stable condition. A fourth adult male reportedly transported himself to hospital and is likewise stable.
MDSO confirmed that its homicide unit has taken over the investigation, while the cause of the explosion is being examined jointly with the State Fire Marshal’s Office and fire rescue officials.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased and said further details are not yet available as the investigation continues.
