The City of North Miami is mourning the loss of former Elected City Clerk Simon “Si” Bloom, Jr., who passed away on Sunday, June 1, at the age of 85. Bloom died in North Miami, Florida, where he resided.
Bloom served as North Miami’s Elected City Clerk from May 16, 1985, until May 24, 2005. Over the course of four terms, he became one of the city’s longest-serving clerks.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Bloom served as a JAG officer during the Vietnam War. After returning to civilian life, he practiced law in the private sector and later joined Taurus Manufacturing as general counsel, a role he held for 35 years.
Bloom remained committed to public service well beyond his retirement. He became an educator and dedicated himself to volunteer work, including supporting fellow veterans and singing in the choir. He was especially proud of his involvement with Shake-A-Leg Miami, an organization focused on empowering individuals with disabilities through adaptive water sports and related programs.

The family of Simon “Si” Bloom, Jr. will honor him during a private memorial service.
