Navasky Anderson among elite field for Olympic Development 800m at Penn Relays

Jamaican athlete Navasky Anderson has been selected as one of the 10 competitors for the Olympic Development men's 800m event at the 128th Penn Relays Carnival, scheduled to take place at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
Expressing his anticipation for the event, Anderson posted on his Instagram page shortly after the announcement, "May the divine presence guide, protect, and empower me on this profound journey, enabling me to accomplish remarkable feats and inspire greatness."
Anderson, boasting the Jamaican national 800m record, enters the competition with the third-fastest time among the participants, having achieved a lifetime best of 1:44.70 on July 30, 2023, at the DC Track Championships in Fairfax, Virginia.
A personal best of 1:44.31
The field includes strong contenders such as Festus Lagat of Kenya, who leads with a personal best of 1:44.31, and Kyle Langford, who finished fourth at the World Championships in the 800m in 2017. Anderson, alongside fellow Kenyan Noah Kibet, holds a sub-1:45 personal best, signifying fierce competition in the event.
Other notable participants include American Vince Crisp, Japan's Sho Kawamoto, Luis Peralta from the Dominican Republic, and Luciano Fiore of the Atlanta Track Club, among others. The diverse field promises an exciting and competitive race.
The Penn Relays, scheduled for April 25-27, will feature over 15,000 athletes competing across various categories, including high school, college, professional, and masters.
