For captain Moeen Ali, the championship was less about individual recognition than the collective effort that carried the Falcons through a demanding season.
“Yeah, very special. I think more for the franchise, more for the players, coaching staff, and everybody that was involved,” Moeen said.
“It’s been a tough journey, but a great journey. Time has gone quickly for us because we’ve enjoyed each other’s company, and you can see on the field the way we played.”
A team that kept finding answers
The Falcons were repeatedly required to adjust their plans, with injuries forcing changes to the playing group and making the balance of the bowling attack particularly difficult to maintain.
Moeen, who joined the team midway through the campaign, said he quickly recognized that the squad possessed the determination required to challenge for the title.
He pointed specifically to an early match in Saint Lucia as the moment when he began to see something special developing.
“Honestly, in that game I played in Saint Lucia, we were only defending 57 off 10 overs, and we almost won,” he recalled.
“From there, I saw fight and great determination from the guys, and I thought at least there’s something great to work with.”
That fighting spirit ultimately became one of the defining features of the Falcons’ championship run.
Moeen acknowledged that assembling the right combination was not straightforward, particularly with the team juggling wrist-spin options, pace at the start of the innings and specialist bowlers for the death overs.
“Having two wrist-spinners, two pace guys up top, and then two death bowlers, it’s not always easy to combine,” he said.
But the disruptions also provided opportunities for players coming into the side.
Cornwall, Allen make their mark
Moeen singled out Rahkeem Cornwall and Fabian Allen for the impact they made despite moving in and out of the lineup during the season.
“I think the biggest difference was the players who came in and out for a couple of injuries,” he said. “Guys like Rahkeem Cornwall and Fabian Allen coming in and out. It wasn’t easy, but they made a huge difference.”
“Quality players who always give everything.”
That adaptability proved crucial as the Falcons continued to build momentum toward the postseason and eventually secured the championship with a commanding final performance.
Moeen described the final as another outstanding display from a group that had remained committed throughout the competition.
“I thought tonight was an outstanding performance again, and I’m really pleased with the way we performed throughout the competition,” he said.
“It was a decent fight in the end. I mean, the dew made a big difference, but it was a great touch to win.”
Nixon praises the collective effort
Head coach Paul Nixon also emphasized that the championship was the product of sustained commitment rather than the contribution of any single player.
“The guys have been immense all year. We’ve been so committed, so clear. Moeen has been an exceptional captain,” Nixon said.
“Everybody’s had an impact in the team and the dressing room, and it’s been amazing. The backroom staff’s analysis has been world-class.”
Nixon also highlighted wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo, who delivered an influential performance in the championship match and capped a strong tournament with a decisive contribution on the biggest night.
“Amir Jangoo had a great competition and saw it through in style,” Nixon said.
“So proud, so humbled, lovely. Amazing people; surround yourself with quality.”
A title for Antigua
For the Falcons, the significance of the victory extended beyond the players and coaching staff.
It marked the franchise’s first CPL championship and provided a landmark moment for the supporters who had followed the team throughout the season.
Nixon dedicated the achievement to the Antiguan faithful, whose backing remained a constant presence as the Falcons navigated the challenges of their campaign.
