Commissioner Diaz and volunteers will be exercising social distancing throughout the distribution. Packages will be dropped off at each door with a knock to alert residents of their arrival.

“We urge seniors to stay home if they don’t have to be out, but if they must leave to go to the grocery store or pharmacy for example, we want them to stay as protected as possible by wearing face masks and face coverings,” Commissioner Diaz said.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the elderly are at higher risk of developing severe illness from COVID-19. The face masks were donated by Sir James Angleton of the Knights of Malta, North American Construction Company and CIMC TianDa. Commissioner Diaz will expand the face mask distribution to other communities in his district if more masks become available.
