Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia is encouraging voters to prepare for the Aug. 18 Primary Election by reviewing their official sample ballots and making a voting plan ahead of Election Day.
The official master Sample Ballot is now available at Vote Miami-Dade, allowing voters to review the candidates and contests that will appear on their ballots before voting in person or completing a Vote-by-Mail ballot.
Voters can also view customized sample ballots based on their personal voting information through the Supervisor of Elections website.
“ Our goal is to make voting as easy and accessible as possible for every voter in Miami-Dade County,” Garcia said. “By reviewing the Sample Ballot and especially your customized sample ballot before voting, you can feel prepared, confident, and ready to make your voice heard.”
The Supervisor of Elections Office is also reminding voters to review important election details, including voting locations, deadlines and available resources, before casting their ballots.
The office began mailing Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballots on Thursday, July 9, to voters who requested them for the Primary Election. Approximately 168,000 ballots were scheduled for mailing, with ballots transferred from the Supervisor of Elections Main Office Warehouse to a United States Postal Service truck for distribution.
Garcia said Vote-by-Mail is one of three options available to Miami-Dade voters, along with Early Voting and voting in person on Election Day.
“Building the public’s trust through secure, fair, accurate, and accessible elections is my pledge,” Garcia said. “Voting by mail is one of three convenient ways our voters can cast their votes, along with early voting and voting on election day. I also want to encourage voter participation in these critically important elections.”
Under Florida law, Vote-by-Mail requests must be renewed after every regularly scheduled general election. Requests made before the 2024 General Election expired on Jan. 1, 2025.
Voters may request a Vote-by-Mail ballot for a specific election or for all elections in which they are eligible to vote through the next regularly scheduled General Election.
Election officials are reminding voters that the U.S. Postal Service will not forward Vote-by-Mail ballots to another address. Voters who need their ballot sent to an address different from the one on file must complete a Statewide Vote-by-Mail Ballot Request Form, which requires the voter’s signature unless specific exceptions apply for military or overseas voters or authorized designees.
The deadline to request a Vote-by-Mail ballot for the Aug. 18 Primary Election is Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026. Completed ballots must be received by the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.
Officials are encouraging voters who choose to vote by mail to return their ballots early to allow time for delivery and to address any potential issues with signatures before the deadline.
