A 33-year-old man is in custody following a series of armed robberies and carjackings across Miami-Dade County that left multiple victims injured, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO).

Investigators say the incidents began on the night of June 18, when deputies responded to an armed carjacking at approximately 8:43 p.m. near SW 67 Avenue and SW 40 Street. Authorities said the victim was beaten and stabbed, and his vehicle was stolen by an unknown male suspect. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

Shortly after, deputies responded to additional armed robberies and carjackings reported across several locations, including SW 137 Avenue and SW 56 Street, a gas station near SW 157 Avenue and SW 88 Street, and another incident in the area of SW 152 Avenue and SW 72 Street. Victims in those cases were taken to hospitals in stable condition.

During an area search near SW 152 Avenue and SW 72 Street, deputies located a recently stolen vehicle and a suspect matching witness descriptions fleeing on foot. After a brief pursuit, officers arrested the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Alejandro Martinez.

Following interviews, detectives allege Martinez was also involved in additional violent incidents in the Midwest and Hammocks districts, where victims were assaulted and transported to hospitals with injuries. Authorities have not released their current conditions.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said Martinez has been charged with robbery/carjacking with a firearm, attempted felony murder, burglary with assault or battery, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and battery by strangulation in a domestic violence-related incident.

The case remains under investigation by the MDSO Robbery Bureau, with additional charges also filed by the Special Victims Bureau’s Domestic Violence Unit stemming from a separate incident.
