Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections Alina Garcia is partnering with Farm Share, the city of Doral and local community organizations to host a free food distribution on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections headquarters, located at 2700 NW 87th Ave. in Doral, and will continue while supplies last.
Organizers said food and essential items will be distributed to local families on a first-come, first-served basis.
The initiative coincides with National Voter Registration Day, giving the Supervisor of Elections Office an opportunity to provide residents with voter information and encourage eligible citizens to register to vote.
“Serving our community goes beyond administering elections. It means being present, accessible and engaged with the people we serve,” Garcia said.
“On National Voter Registration Day, we are especially proud to bring our community together with Farm Share, Mayor Fraga and our local partners. Whether we are helping a voter prepare for an election or helping a family put food on the table, our goal is to maintain an active, community-centered office that Miami-Dade residents know they can count on.”
The distribution is being organized in partnership with Farm Share and Doral Mayor Christi Fraga. Representatives from the Doral Police Department, City of Doral Parks and Recreation and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office are also expected to participate.
Officials said the event is part of the elections office's broader effort to maintain a visible presence in communities across Miami-Dade County and connect residents with information and resources.
Drivers attending the distribution must enter the vehicle queue through Doral Central Park using the entrance on NW 92nd Avenue. From there, participants will be directed to the food distribution site.
The distribution will continue until supplies run out.
