Masicka will release Forever Reign worldwide on Friday, Aug. 14, through Def Jam Recordings, before heading to Brooklyn the following night for Reggae Fest Presents Masicka at Barclays Center on Saturday, Aug. 15.
The back-to-back milestones represent the latest chapter in an international career that has seen Masicka steadily expand his profile from one of dancehall’s most respected lyricists to a global recording artist.
Forever Reign arrives nearly three years after Generation of Kings, Masicka’s 2023 sophomore album and first full-length project for Def Jam. The 17-track project found success, debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart.
Driven by songs such as “Tyrant,” “LimeLight,” “Wet” featuring Fridayy, “Black Sheep,” “Stars R Us” featuring Popcaan and “March On” featuring Dexta Daps, Generation of Kings showcased Masicka’s ability to create a sound capable of reaching audiences beyond Jamaica.
The album was also recognized at the 2024 Caribbean Music Awards in Brooklyn, where Generation of Kings was named Album of the Year (Dancehall), adding another accolade to Masicka’s growing résumé.
The new album has been described as representing “growth, elevation, and the next chapter” of his journey. The timing of its release is almost perfect, as just 24 hours after fans get their first full listen, Masicka will walk onto the Barclays Center stage as the headliner of Reggae Fest.
Barclays Center has confirmed via its Instagram page that Reggae Fest Presents Masicka will take place Aug. 15 at 8 p.m., with tickets currently on sale.
His journey to this point includes the success of his debut album, 438, the international attention surrounding Generation of Kings, the 2025 Her Name Is Love EP and continued collaborations that have broadened his reach.
With Forever Reign arriving Aug. 14 and his Barclays Center debut following Aug. 15, Masicka’s next chapter is beginning with a one-two punch: a new body of work followed by an arena performance.
